McComb foundation
The McComb Foundation is a research-based organisation that was established in 1999 to conduct research into tissue engineering. The foundation is named after Mr. Harold McComb FRACS, a Western Australian plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Mr McComb is internationally renowned for his innovations in cleft lip and palate repair.
The foundation aims to further composite skin regeneration and advance tissue engineering processes and technologies. In addition to scientific research, the McComb Foundation actively participates in overseas burn education and supports the treatment of less-advantaged patients from poorer nations.
C3 was founded as an independent company to commercialise new products out of the research performed by the McComb Foundation. C3 provides the McComb Foundation with royalties for technologies used to enable further research and provides additional funding for charitable donation and government grants.
With a growing number of members at the forefront of their fields, the McComb Foundation is well-positioned to conduct leading-edge research into autologous skin replacement technologies and procedures. This means that organisations such as C3 can then apply venture capital and shareholder funds to develop innovative products that provide physicians with a wide range of options to improve patients' quality of life.
